Iris can go in a lot of directions. Sometimes it is lipstick-powdery, sometimes earthy and rooty, and sometimes so clean it almost feels like pressed fabric. Iris Regent sits in that last camp.
It is our Iris Debonair-inspired fragrance, built around the contrast between cool aromatic notes and a soft iris base.
The opening: bright, herbal and slightly sharp
Bergamot brings the brightness, but absinthe stops the opening from feeling like a standard citrus fragrance. Pink pepper and cardamom add a dry spicy edge rather than obvious sweetness.
The heart: lavender, violet leaf and fig
This is the part that gives Iris Regent its tailored feel. Lavender keeps it aromatic, violet leaf adds a green metallic edge and fig softens the middle without turning it into a fruity perfume.
The base: iris, ambrette and amberwood
The base is smooth and understated. Iris adds the powdery texture, ambrette brings a soft musky warmth and amberwood gives the whole thing enough structure to avoid becoming too delicate.
Is it masculine or feminine?
We list Iris Regent as unisex. It has traditionally masculine fougère cues from lavender and aromatic spice, but the iris and fig soften everything. If you like clean, elegant fragrances, gender labels are probably the least interesting part of it.
When would we wear it?
This is an easy smart-casual fragrance: work, dinner, daytime events, evenings when you do not want a huge sweet scent. The aromatic opening also stops it feeling too heavy in milder weather.
What should you sample first?
If you have not worn much iris before, start small. Iris can change a lot on skin, which is exactly why our sample option exists.
