Anelo Clone or Alternative? A Relaxed Review of Tropical Dream

Anelo clone alternative review - Tropical Dream by Phase

If you are looking for an Anelo clone or alternative, the temptation is to reduce the whole fragrance to “pineapple and mango”. That misses half of what makes the profile work.

The quick version

Tropical Dream is fruity, fresh and tropical at the start, but it finishes much drier than the opening suggests.

Pineapple, pomelo and mandarin lead the way. Mango, ginger and magnolia sit through the middle, while amber, vetiver and patchouli take over as it settles.

Is it sweet?

Yes, but not in a dessert-fragrance way. The fruit is ripe and juicy, then the base pulls it back. If you normally avoid tropical scents because they feel sticky, this is the part that may surprise you.

Does it feel summery?

Very. It has that bright, outdoorsy quality that makes sense in warm weather. The ginger and vetiver also give it enough bite that it does not just smell like fruit juice.

Who will like it?

Pineapple fans, mango fans, citrus lovers and anyone who wants a fresh fragrance with more personality than the usual shower-gel style scents.

Who might not?

If you dislike obvious fruit in perfume or prefer heavy vanilla, tobacco and oud, this probably will not be your first pick. That is fine — fragrance is easier when you stop trying to like everything.

Our recommendation

Wear it on skin for a few hours before judging it. The dry-down is what separates it from a simple tropical fragrance.
